Found It A Field Guide for Mom Entrepreneurs (Audible Audio Edition) Jill Salzman Piggott Press Books Reviews

This is also a great book for Dads who find themselves in the position of starting their own business while raising young kids. And ALL of the advice applies to us too. This book is written in a funny and engaging manner that immediately hooks the reader and proceeds to impart essential information for entrepreneurs of all shapes and sizes! If you are navigating the waters of our 21st Century economy with a business concept or product of your own--BUY THIS BOOK.
I love this book! Salzman is a mom who has owned 3 businesses, and she clearly knows what she's talking about. Her writing style is humorous, smart, and informative. As I read the book, I was laughing one minute and taking notes the next! The author shares tons of helpful resources (with an excellent and time saving index in the back.) This book is part "how to guide," part "you can do it", with a helping of "been there, done that, let me save you some time!" Reading this book left me with a sense of confidence and excitement about being a mom entrepreneur. Glad I "Found It!" Highly recommended!
I've subscribed to Jill's email newsletter for a few years now and am excited to see that she also has a new podcast. I always find myself exploring the products and services she recommends as well as sending them on to other entrepreneurial friends.

I just finished my first read of Jill's book and I will be starting a second read right away. This book is filled with short sections on everything from incorporating to what office supplies are essential. Don't let it's size fool you. This book is packed with information including where to get help with starting a website and even where to download menus for 30 minute meals and grocery lists. If you are looking for a book to systematically walk you through each step of starting a business, then this is not the book for you (For that I recommend Small Business for Dummies). If you are looking for some practical advice for how to survive as a woman/mom in business while keeping your sanity and your sense of humor, then I don't think you could find a better place to start.
So glad I did. Encouraging, informative, and a read that will make you want to be an entrepreneur if you're not already. This information is not easy to find and I've already employed some of its advice. I'm especially fond of the urging to lose the business plan and START. In addition to the particulars, there is an overall substantive message in this book which is that women can make "it" happen--whatever it is for them, but she urges you in on in a realistic way (e.g., ways to conquer the dinner debacle while you're trying to take over the world).

For the reader of this review, I am not a friend of Jill's and promote this completely independently with no hint from her that I should. However, I did meet her recently by attending one of her Founding Moms meetings. The women and the information . . . it is all very serious and I have improved my organization, which I started with nothing but a gut feeling, quickly as a result. This is why Founding Moms went from one meetup to worldwide meetups in a matter of seconds.
I appreciated the practical advice in this easy to read (in small intervals of time, crucial) book. Some of the "cute" graphics were distracting from the tone of the main content.
Found It A Field Guide for Mom Entrepreneurs is so engaging I didn't want to put it down. Jill offers advice and reassures me that I'm not an idiot for making the mistakes I have made (and will make). I've highlighted several parts and made notes. I don't usually do book reviews, but I feel like this is one I need to share with my community. If you haven't read it yet, please do.
I think this book is truly a "field guide". It reads like a travel companion because it is immediately relevant and useful. Most business books are broad, vague and dull. This one stands out. And with its short chapters, it's really easy to pick up anytime and pick up where I left off. So glad I "found it" (ha ha).
