Advertised as the COMPLETE! works, which is deceptive. What I received is volume VI. Don't order this one.
Long but insightful about the man and our country's history. We all learn our country's history but do you know the man? i enjoyed reading it and recommend it.

Very informative giving a better understanding of Lincoln and his activities during the war and before. Good reading for Lincoln historians
A lot of legalese while offering a glimpse of the man and his compassion for so many. A bit tedious at times yet offers an appealing account of everyday matters while conducting a war.
Fortunately, I am a serious history student and am of septuagenarian age. I can read the turgid and sometimes verbose language of Lincoln's time and actually figure out point he was making at the time. This book requires study and an effort to understand what the conditions were in his time vis a vis our unfortunate time of trial and tribulation.
Excellent book. Everyone should read this book. It gives such insight into a very dismal and dark period of our country, and should give wisdom on dealing with such new problems as we face today. Lincoln was one of a kind, I wish we had his wisdom and fortitude today. Especially do I wish for his truth and integrity which seem to be sorely lacking.
